Eliz Maloney and Emma Wilson take part in our first women’s match of week 6! Maloney is the ranked second in the UK Pro League this year and with first placed Emily Appleton not playing, she will consider week 6 a great way to grab some more qualifying points.

Emma Wilson is playing in her third week of this years competition and a high placed finish could see her shoot right up the table.

A lightening start from Maloney, she holds serve easily before taking her second break point on Wilson’s serve. On the first, Wilson calls a close ball on the right side out, with both players having a conversation with the umpires. Wilson cannot take advantage of this and goes a break behind quickly in this one.

A chaotic start to this match! Breaks everywhere as Wilson is able to level up with back-to-back games. A great response from Wilson, it would have been easy to let this first set slip after going a break down.

14:05 Eliz Maloeny wins the first set 7-6(4) 

A up and down first set is concluded comprehensively by Maloney with a confident tiebreak performance. A backhand from Wilson goes long on set point after intense pressure as always from Eliz Maloney.

Emma Wilson has had issues when she goes a set down, rarely being able to fight back. A poor service game gives Maloney the perfect start in the second set, Wilson has a long way to come back now.

All credit here to both players, Emma Wilson has done magnificently to hold on in this set, breaking once. She can’t conjure up a second one however and the determined Maloney has pushed through to a win here.
