On court 1 we have our highest ranked men’s player this week Evan Hoyt squaring up against Dan Little. Hoyt is making his debut on the UK Pro League tour, and will want to make an immideate impact. Dan Little is playing his second week, after a solid debut back in week 4, a decent finish here in London will bring him close to the top 9!
15:34 Daniel Little breaks serve 2-5
A great start by Little as he races into a 2-5 lead before some injury problems creep in for Hoyt. He hasn’t played much tennis recently but looks okay to keep playing for now.
15:35 Little wins the first set 3-6
Hoyt had a talk with his physio on court and decided to keep going, he is able to win the first service game back but Little only needs to serve out for the first set. A simple service game follows to give Little the first set, I wonder how much that was due to a possible injury for Hoyt. We will see in the second set!
16:20 Hoyt holds serve 3-6, 6-6
A much more busy and agile Hoyt has upped his game considerably in this second set and Dan Little is doing his best to keep up. The players cancel out each other’s breaks to take us into a tie break. This match is getting hot!
16:30 Hoyt wins the second set 3-6, 7-6(3)
We are into a third set tiebreak. Hoyt’s injury scare seems to have gone away as he takes the second set with a succession of precisely played points.
16:40 Hoyt wins the match 3-6, 7-6(3), 10-5
It wasn’t always smooth but the highest ranked player in the men’s draw wins his opening match of week 6! After his injury cleared up he was on top throughout, we will see if he can keep up with the pace of the UK Pro League as he has more matches coming soon!
