Our first match on Court 1 is the men’s 3rd/4th playoff. Yesterday Max Basing and Lui Maxted both lost their respective semi-finals. Maxted was blitzed by a superb performance from Charles Broom as he lost 6-1, 6-1. Basing lost to the highest ranked player, Julian Cash in his match.

Maxted is furious with himself. He allows Basing to get back into a point that he should have finished from the net. Basing then plants a passing shot straight past him to go a break up!

11:42 Basing wins the set 6-3 

Basing has the chance to serve for the set, but he looks nervy. Two break points for Maxted. The first is defended easily and Maxted’s return at 30-40 is long. Well defended by Basing! Another brea point comes and goes for Maxted, but Basing is clinical. On set point, he puts a serve on the centre line that Maxted can only bunt back long. A superb first set from the 18-year-old

A crucial error from Maxted as he double faults at the wrong time. On break point he can’t find his serve and he gives away a break. .

A great way to end week 5 for Max Basing as he secures third place. Maxted struggled in the last two matches but he can be very happy with his week to. The 18-year-old will finish in fourth place
