League leader Emily Appleton fought to a win yesterday to start week 5 perfectly. If she wins here she will top her group. Danielle Daley stands in her way, playing her first match this week.

14:50 APPLETON BREAKS SERVE 1-0

Straight away! Appleton is bang on it straight away, at 30-40 she bosses a point, forcing Daley long to grab the break in the first set.

15:00 APPLETON BREAKS AGAIN 3-0

Lightning start from Appleton, as she tears apart a Daley service game, finishing with a brutal passing shot that Daley can’t touch. Great shot.

15:11 APPLETON BREAKS SERVE 5-0

Daley throws away her service game with back to back double faults at deuce. Can’t make many mistakes against Appleton, who serves for the first set.

15:15 APPLETON WINS THE FIRST SET 6-0

Classic Appleton. A thunderous ace down the centre to finish the first set off. Textbook. Daley will need to improve to match the level of Emily at the moment!

15:30 APPLETON BREAKS IN THE SECOND SET 6-0, 2-1

Daley holds serve for her first game of the match. Appleton doesn’t have to wait long for the break however, as in the next game Daley hits into the net on break point.

15:53 APPLETON BREAKS 6-0, 5-2

She is serving for a place in the quarter-final now! Daley can’t keep up with the powerful hitting and Appleton looks set to make it 2 from 2 in week 5.

15:57 APPLETON WINS MATCH 6-0, 6-2

It was never really in doubt. Emily Appleton storms to the win in two sets and makes it a perfect first two days in week 5. This win gets her top-spot in the group. Danielle Daley can still progress, but will have to play better in her match against Anna Brogan.
